NOAH DETTWILER suffered multiple cardiac arrests after a terrifying Moto3 smash, according to reports.
Swiss rider Dettwiler was gearing up for the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday when he collided with world champion Jose Antonio Rueda.
Teenage star Rueda ploughed into the back of Dettwiler during the sighting lap in a crash which sent both riders flying.
Dettwiler, 20, had been travelling at reduced speed – most likely because he was investigating a possible problem with his bike.
Although both riders were airlifted straight to hospital, Rueda got away with a fractured hand and a concussion.
But Dettwiler’s condition is much more serious.
Blick have reported that the Swiss rider suffered ‘multiple cardiac arrests’, fractured his leg, damaged his spleen and lungs, and ‘lost a lot of blood’.
Dettwiler’s dad, Andy, says doctors “fought for his [son’s] life”. His parents jetted out to Malaysia immediately and he is now understood to be in a stable condition.
Dettwiler’s team, French CIP-KTM, wrote: “Our rider Noah Dewiller was involved in a serious accident.
“He was taken to the hospital in Kuala Lumpur and will need to undergo multiple surgeries.
“He is in good hands, and we kindly ask you to respect his privacy. We will not be sharing further details at this time.
“Noah is a true fighter, and the entire CIP Green Power team is right behind him. We will keep you updated as soon as possible.”
The start of the Moto3 Grand Prix itself was an hour and a half delayed as both riders received urgent medical attention on track.
The subsequent Moto2 and MotoGP races then proceeded as normal.
