THIS is the terrifying moment three huge waterspout tornadoes formed from the sea, as a popular holiday region continues to be slammed with wild weather.
A Mazarron local caught the hair raising moment three tornadoes formed alongside the Spanish coastline.
The shocking footage shows the storm-filled sky funnelling into the sea in three separate twisters as heavy rain continued to fall.
The local filming the video can be heard describing the scene on Sunday, speaking loudly to be heard over the sound of the torrential downpour.
“It’s taking the pier away! This is crazy,” he can be heard saying.
“It’s coming this way!” he added.
Lightning strikes were also visible as the video was being taken.
Another man caught one of the tornadoes on camera closer up, in footage that almost cost him his life.
The Mazarron resident was filming the passing “mangas marinas” – sea sleeves in Spanish – before one quickly turned in his direction.
He watched on in horror as the water claimed his vehicle in the chaos, while he gripped a pole, fighting for survival.
Local media outlet LaSexta spoke to locals who described the storms as “like the end of the world”.
“They were perfectly visible from four or five kilometres away,” one person said.
“[There was] a loud bang, like the end of the world, and two seconds later the objects were flying over our heads.”
What began as a waterspout swiftly turned into three devastating tornadoes, taking everything in their paths.
Beach bar terraces were destroyed in the storm alongside the destroyed carcasses of boats previously docked in port.
President of the Murcia region Fernando Lopez Miras, visited the area on Monday.
“We are conducting visual inspections of the fishing and marina port, which is where the most damage is,” he said.
“It looks like something out of a movie.”
The wild weather has firmly held the Spanish coastline in its grip as terrified onlookers watched a yacht get taken apart by the wind.
Their screams can be heard in footage showing holiday makers and residents alike making a desperate dash for cover.
The area remained under a yellow alert until 6pm on Sunday evening.
Along other parts of the coast, authorities placed red alerts out, urging people to stay inside as the torrential rain triggered severe flooding.
