This is the disturbing moment an on-duty police officer steals a woman’s underwear while searching her home.

Hertfordshire Constabulary police officer Marcin Zielinski, 27, has been jailed for four months after he admitted to stealing the woman’s underwear from the property on September 12 2024.

Ring camera footage shows the officer rifling through the woman’s belongings before turning his attention to a chest of drawers.

He then takes the woman’s underwear from the second draw and slips it into his back pocket before leaving the bedroom.

Zielinski, from Shefford, Bedfordshire, was condemned by his force who said his behaviour represented a ‘fundamental betrayal of the public’.

He admitted one charge of theft and a charge of corrupt/improper exercise of police powers and privileges by a constable when he appeared at court on Monday 4 August.

The court heard that Zielinski stole the underwear while he was carrying out a Section 32 search at a home on September 12 last year.

A woman living at the address had been arrested in connection with an unrelated matter and was later released with no further action taken.

Zielinski resigned from the force while under investigation in November 2024.

Hertfordshire Constabulary Assistant Chief Constable Genna Telfer said: ‘Zielinski has let down the public of Hertfordshire, the police service as a whole and his former colleagues, who act with professionalism and integrity.

‘His criminal behaviour damages the reputation of policing and represents a fundamental betrayal of the public and the values for which the police service stands.’
