A police officer has been banned from driving after being caught speeding at more than 150mph.
Petar Krtinic, 23, was filmed by his sister on January 2 zooming down the A421 in Bedfordshire.
The footage was posted on Instagram, capturing him racing past other motorists in his highly modified Volkswagen Golf, driving westbound.
Bedfordshire Police found evidence of Krtinic speeding up to 166mph after he posted a picture of his speedometer on social media with the caption ‘peaceful’.
The 23-year-old resigned from the force while facing a misconduct hearing last September, relating to a separate incident.
Police said he would have been stripped of his badge if he hadn’t resigned.
Krtinic was banned from driving for 12 months in the Luton Magistrates’ Court and sentenced to prison for 24 weeks, but his jail time has been suspended for a year.

He was fined £234 and must take a mandatory extended retest.
Krtinic will also have to complete 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
The shamed cop’s sentence comes just days after it was revealed a police officer was sacked for running a tanning business while claiming mental health issues stopped her reporting for duty.
PC Jennifer Stowers, 37, based within Central West Command Unit, ran her mobile spray tanning firm, @jenniferstowerstan via Instagram, between May 18, 2023 and April 2, 2025, while claiming to be unable to work in person, the misconduct panel heard.
On November 23, 2023, the officer was referred to occupational health after informing her line manager she could no longer work in the office due to her mental health, for which reasonable adjustments were made.
However, her line manager later found her firm’s Instagram page where PC Stowers offered tanning services to ‘wedding parties, hen dos and private home visits’ on April 2, 2025.
A professional standards panel concluded that her actions were ‘intentional and deliberate’ and had an ‘adverse effect on the police service and public confidence.’
The panel was told the officer tanned numerous clients away from home, and on May 2, 2023, posted an advertisement where she said she was ‘happy to travel’ and give clients ‘a safe and sunkissed tan in the comfort of [their] own home’.
In 2024, PC Stowers had also made numerous posts which included clients and availability, the appropriate authority said.
That same year, she was also crowned Spray Tanning Artist Of The Year both nationally and in the region for southeast England by Gb Beauty & UK Hair Awards.
