ANGRY Southampton fans called for defender Nathan Wood to be sacked last night after appearing to tell his own supporters to “f*** off.”
The former Swansea player was filmed mouthing off to supporters before he went down the St. Mary’s tunnel following a 2-0 loss to Preston that leaves saints 21st in the Championship.
Wood seemed to mouth the same insult four times to fans, who were booing the team and manager Will Still who is fighting his job.
The X-rated video was shared by thousands by fans on the internet with one writing: “He shouldn’t play for the club again-and that would be better for him.”
Still said he had not seen the video by the time he conducted a post-match press conference.
But he said: “I don’t think it’s the smartest thing to do-and we shouldn’t be doing that.
“I never criticise supporters because I know how much time and wages they spend on supporting their team.
“I won’t give up and I don’t think the players have given up on anything either-being a manager is not the most pleasant situation in the world.”
Southampton were relegated from the Premier League last season and are now fighting for their Championship lives.
They have failed to win any of their last five matches as they tumble down the Championship table.

The 2-0 defeat to 6th-place Preston was the latest addition to their recent misfortune.
Aston Villa loanee Lewis Dobbin opening the scoring, before Mads Frøkjær-Jensen’s 93rd-minute finish added insult to injury in front of the St Mary’s faithful.
The supporters called for the board to be sacked during the game singing: “Sporting Republic get out of our club.”
