A MASCOT for St Albans City was reportedly ejected from their FA Cup match this weekend after being filmed stumbling around on the touchline.
The seventh-tier side lost 6-0 away at League One outfit Burton Albion in their first-round clash on Saturday.
Burton – who are 79 league places above their opponents – easily cruised to victory on the day.
But attention quickly turned to matters off the pitch after the game as bizarre footage began circulating of St Albans mascot Sammy the Saint.
A video that has gone viral on X shows the mascot looking sluggish as he tumbles over the advertising hoarding behind the goal.
The mascot then gets to his feet before attempting to punch the air and losing his balance.
He then has to hold onto the railings of the stands to maintain his composure before making his way back onto the pitch.
Another video then shows the mascot being led away by stewards to the side of the pitch, with the individual in the costume still waving his hands and celebrating.
SunSport has reached out to St Albans City for comment.
Fans have been reacting to the footage as one said: “This is so non-league”.

Another simply said: “Sammy’s no saint.”
A third added that it was “the most British thing that has ever happened”.
It was a bad day at the office for St Albans as they were hammered by their superior opponents.
Burton secured a comfortable win thanks to braces from Tyrese Shade, Charlie Webster and Fabio Tavares.
St Albans currently compete in the Isthmian League and find themselves in 11th place after three wins, one draw and one defeat this season.
They suffered a nightmare campaign in the Nation League South last season as they finished 21st and were relegated.
