THIS is the moment a suspected bungling burglar is captured by cops -after falling asleep in a child’s bed midway through his alleged heist.
The dozy suspect was caught by officers after they found him napping in the home in Newark, Nottinghamshire, in the early hours of yesterday.
Bodycam footage shows police storming into the kids-themed bedroom, which is adorned with teddies and toys, at around 3.15am.
Officers stumbled across the alleged crook snoozing after receiving reports of a burglary and finding a smashed window at the family home.
Shouts of “get up” can be heard ringing across the room, before the suspected thief is forcibly dragged out the bed – which he barely fits in.
The disorientated man, sporting jeans, a blue top and a gold chain, then appears to lean on a chest of drawers as he comes around.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers had initially let themselves in out of concern for the homeowner.
A search of the house revealed it was empty except for the man sleeping on a floor bed next to a cot in one of the rooms.
After waking him up and establishing he wasn’t the homeowner, officers quickly placed the suspect in handcuffs.
The force confirmed a 24-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Inspector Dale Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, hailed the work of teams responding to the alleged burglary.
He said: “The officers responding to this incident did a great job apprehending a suspect as quickly as they did.
“The team made their way there and took action when they suspected an intruder could still be inside the house.
“As it turned out, the property was completely empty, aside from one man who was lying down on a floor bed in one of the rooms.
“As shown by our robust response to this burglary report, we will always treat incidents of this nature seriously and act accordingly.”
It comes just days after a cowering burglar was jailed after being caught hiding under a bed after breaking into a home.
Body worn footage shows officers lifting up a bed frame and finding the suspect squashed inside the storage compartment.
David Dale Thompson can be seen curled up in the cramped space as officers drag him out from his hiding spot and arrest him.
Thompson, 42, of no fixed abode, was caught on January 15, 2025 after being tracked down by cops on patrol.
He’s now been caged for five years after pleading guilty to four counts of residential burglary.
