WATCH the moment an enthusiastic Kate Middleton joined Rugby fans in a Mexican wave as she cheered England on in the World Cup.
The Princess of Wales immersed herself in the atmosphere as she eagerly watched England’s Red Roses take on Australia.
Kate, who is Patron of the Rugby Football Union, attended the group stage match at Brighton and Hove Albion Stadium on Sunday.
The royal, 43, cheered the team to their 47-7 victory, and even joined in with the excited crowds by taking part in a Mexican wave.
Throughout the match she was seen embracing the rugby spirit, laughing and chatting with those around her.
The mother-of-three is a firm advocate for women’s rugby and sport so her enthusiasm came as no surprise to onlookers.
In footage shared on the Wallaroos Rugby Instagram page, Kate was shown making an impromptu post-match visit to the Aussie locker room, as she was videoed shaking hands with the players.
In the clip, she tells one of the players that she is a “massive supporter” of women’s sport.
She warmly asked: “How has it been playing away from home? Is it ok?”
The royal continued: “You played really well, you gave us a run for our money at the beginning, it was nerve-racking!”
She then went on to address the large crowd that the match brought in, saying how fantastic it was for women’s sport.
Both Kate and William have recently shared messages to their respective women’s rugby teams on social media.
William wished good luck to the Welsh women’s side as they kicked off their Rugby World Cup campaign against Scotland.
Meanwhile, ahead of Sunday’s game, Kate wrote: “Wishing the Red Roses the very best as they kick off their Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign tonight.
“I look forward to cheering you on and seeing the team rise to the challenge on home soil!”
Kate took over the role with the RFU from her brother-in-law Prince Harry in 2022, after he was forced to give up the patronage.
Her passion for sport has been well documented, with her notably being the royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, and often being spotted in the Royal Box at Centre Court.
However, her love for rugby is less well known, despite her sister Pippa telling Vanity Fair magazine that the sport was a “big thing” for their family in 2014.
While Kate cheered on in Brighton, Prince William attended the Wales against Fiji game in Exeter.
The pair’s attendance at their respective events came after the family were dealt a devastating blow with the passing of the Duchess of Kent.
The couple shared a touching tribute following the announcement of her death aged 92.
The Prince and Princess of Wales said: “Our thoughts today are with The Duke of Kent and his family, particularly George, Helen and Nicholas.
“The Duchess worked tirelessly to help others and supported many causes, including through her love of music.
“She will be a much missed member of the family.”
A statement from the Royal Family added: “It is with deep sorrow that Buckingham Palace announces the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent.
“Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family.
“The King and Queen and all Members of The Royal Family join The Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren in mourning their loss and remembering fondly.
“The Duchess’s life-long devotion to all the organisations with which she was associated, her passion for music and her empathy for young people.”
