Wake up, PM!
AFTER a dismal week, the Prime Minister woke yesterday to grim figures showing Britain’s economy is flatlining.
The zero growth in July leaves Sir Keir Starmer and his Chancellor with a huge task to fill the £40billion black hole in the upcoming Budget.

Their temptation will be to further hike taxes — regardless of the fact they are already at a post-war high.
All that matters to the Treasury is keeping the unaccountable Office for Budget Responsibility happy.
There is no long-term vision. No plan to rewire the economy, or increase our dismal productivity rate.
If he is to stand any chance of delivering growth, the PM must radically change course.
That means slashing regulations which tie-up businesses, already hammered by the National Insurance hike.
It means slamming the brakes on Ed Miliband’s mad dash for Net Zero, which is driving up energy costs and fuelling inflation.
And he must ditch Angela Rayner’s Employment Rights Bill, which could cost the economy £5billion and lead to the loss of 50,000 jobs.
Mired in scandal, tanking in the polls and with a stagnant economy, it’s time for the PM to wake up to the hole he’s in.
Migrant mess
MINISTERS are quickly running out of places to house asylum seekers.
Protests against migrant hotels have forced the Home Office to move new arrivals into shared homes, bedsits and disused military bases.
But the plan has been met with an angry backlash from local councils.
Now even Labour-run authorities are among those taking action to prevent houses of multiple occupations being set up in their area.
With 1.3million families on social housing waiting lists and a record number in temporary accommodation, this cannot continue.
We’ve heard enough about Labour’s failed bid to “smash the gangs”.
What the country needs is a real deterrent like the Rwanda scheme and a human rights-proof deportation system.
Vile joy of Left
MANY on the Left of politics have an unshakeable belief they have a monopoly on kindness.
How, then, to explain some of the sickening responses to the assassination of Donald Trump ally Charlie Kirk?
Gleeful activists took to the social media platform Bluesky to celebrate the dad-of-two’s death and post a “dream” hit list of other high-profile targets, such as JK Rowling.
These are the same people who accuse anyone with an opposing view of being “far-Right”.
How vile.
