Minnie Driver ‘doesn’t care’ what anyone thinks of her as she opens up on incredible new role in Fox’s The Faithful

HOLLYWOOD actress Minnie Driver has admitted she “doesn’t care” what anyone thinks of her after signing up to star on Fox’s powerful new show, The Faithful.

The acting legend, 56, is playing the role of Sarah in the brand new biblical epic series sub-titled, Women of the Bible.

Set to launch Stateside next month, Minnie admitted she felt drawn to take on the role in order to continue telling the stories of powerful women – something she has striven for throughout her acting career.

The star spoke exclusively to The Sun at the London premiere of the brand new series where she opened up on the incredible new role and why she tunes out of other people’s opinions on her acting choices.

Speaking on the red carpet, Minnie said to The Sun: “You can’t ever really worry about what anyone thinks of you.

“It is hard but I just wouldn’t do anything if I were unsure.”

Spilling more on her character and how she managed to balance her interpretation of a biblical figure, Minnie added to The Sun: “In this, I am playing a historical character and there’s no picture of Sarah.

“We only have what’s written in the Bible about her.

“I am clearly not 97 which is how she’s written in the bible so I felt it was okay to just take some license and I just imagined, you know, that she looked a lot like me.”

The actress continued: “She’s such a strong and amazing woman.

“It is really odd and weird though as she is married to a man who is talking to God so it is about the idea of what would that be like for her and what is the journey.

“She has to think about ‘do you think they are mad, do you think there is something wrong with them?’

“It ultimately felt like quite a hard role, which is of course something that I am really interested in as an actress.”

She further added: “Sarah is an extraordinary woman having a deeply spiritual experience.

“She longs to be a mother and loves her husband.

“Her path to faith was a really interesting and difficult journey.”

Minnie stars in the series alongside fellow performers Natacha Karam, Blu Hunt, Jeffrey Donovan, Tom Payne, Tom Mison and Ben Robson.

The show is currently seeking a UK distributor with plans to air in the country later this year.

The Faithful is told across three two-hour-long episodes and debuts on Fox on March 22nd with the finale set to air on Easter Sunday.

Minnie’s TV debut was in a 1991 for an advert for Right Guard deodorant.

After that she had small parts in Casualty, The House of Eliott, Lovejoy and Peak Practice.

Minnie shot to international fame when she switched to movies – playing the lead role in Circle of Friends in 1995.
