A MAJOR TV brand has rolled out a big change and introduced some festive freebies along the way.

Owners of LG smart TVs may notice a whole new look to its free streaming service.

LG Channels is home to a number of internet-streamed channels you can’t get with Freeview.

It even includes some Sky Sports channels.

There are three in total: Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault and Sky Sports Classics.

Sky Sports Stories is the place for sporting documentaries, from EFL Rivalries to Her Huddle.

Sky Sports Vault revisits a whole host of archive darts, EFL and boxing content including 30 Years of The PDC World Darts Championship and Fight Night.

And Sky Sports Classics, home to Sky Sports Premier League archives with the likes of Premier League Icons and Premier League Legends.

But there’s also some Christmas content as well this year.

The LG1 Christmas channel has just launched showing hits like Christmas Eve starring Sir Patrick Stewart and Nativity 2 with David Tennant.

A Merry Christmas tab unlocks more festive treats including Rakuten’s 100% Christmas and Great! Christmas where you can watch Bad Santa, Arthur Christmas and The Night Before.

LG has revamped the free streaming service this week with a new look interface to make it easier to find content, as well as personalisation features using AI.

LG Channels first debuted in Korea ten years ago and has now grown to 33 countries with some 4,000 channels.

Get more quality TV for free

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor

If you’re tired of paying out on several streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ then there are a growing number of free alternatives around.

While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.

As well as UKTV, Sony and 5 are among the other players getting involved.

If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices.

On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.

Some of the classics are real gems too – I found myself watching long-forgotten episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the other day.
