MEGHAN Markle has been blasted for failing to showcase food from her heritage on her Netflix show despite having complained her culture was stifled by “racists” while she worked in the Royal Family.
The Duchess of Sussex‘s decision to not include any food from her heritage in the second series of her show With Love, Meghan, which landed on screens today, was labelled “confusing” .
Meghan had previously made accusations of racism around the Royal Family – after she quit as a working member – but experts have questioned why she hasn’t showcased her heritage more since leaving the UK.
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show, news commentator Samara Gill said Meghan’s decision to not showcase traditional meals from her “Nigerian side that she talks about” was “confusing”.
She said: “She wasn’t really able to celebrate her heritage in the Royal Family [amid] some accusations of racism.
“[But] I would have loved to see some traditional meals then, for this Nigerian side that she talks about having.

“I mean that was missing, in my opinion, from the series because she was very vocal about that from within the Royal Family.
“So that was also a confusing move – a lot of stuff is antithetical to what she was complaining about while she was in the Royal Family, I think when it comes to her finding out her Nigerian heritage.”
In the past, Meghan has spoken about how she discovered she was 43 per cent Nigerian through a genealogy test.
She also called the West African nation “my country” on a visit to the state with Prince Harry last year.
Samara suggested Meg could have “got a couple of meals or brought in a famous Nigerian chef” as her passion for her heritage was “something she’s become vocal about”.
In an interview with Bloomberg Originals released today, Meghan spoke about how her life had felt “inauthentic” while she was working with the Royal Family.
She described how she “couldn’t be as vocal” while she was in the UK, adding she felt more “relatable” to people now after quitting as a working royal.
When asked if it’s hard to appear relatable, she said: “No, I’m just being myself. I think it was probably different several years ago where I couldn’t be as vocal and I had to wear nude pantyhose all the time.
“Let’s be honest, that’s not very myself, I hadn’t seen pantyhose since movies in the eighties when they came in that little egg.
“That felt a little bit inauthentic, but that’s a silly example, but it is an example of when you’re able to dress the way you wanna dress and you’re able to say the things that are true and you’re able to show up in the space really organically that’s being comfortable in your own skin.”
Royal commentator Afua Hagan touched on this, mentioning how Meghan may “feel she has more choice now” after quitting the Firm.
She added: “I think she can be exactly who she wants to be.
“She’s leaning into her authentic self – I think maybe with age as well.”
SUSSEXES ‘TAKING A DIG’ AT ROYAL FAMILY
This comes after an expert called Meghan’s new series an example of the Sussexes “taking a dig” at the Royal Family.
Royal expert Phil Dampier said the duchess may have been taking “subtle” digs at the Firm after she appeared to refer to her infamous claim she was forced to wear neutral colours while in the UK.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: “Certainly, Megan, I think, is doing her own thing, and this new Netflix series is evidence of that.
“There’s no sign of Harry in this program… maybe he has bigger fish to fry.
“To spice it up a bit, Megan starts talking a little bit about her time in the royal family.
“She drops a few things here and there and talks about her time in the UK.
“I think if there’s any opportunity for them to have another dig, they will use it – even if it’s in a more subtle way.
“I think they’ve exhausted their ammunition, in terms of Harry’s Book ‘Spare’, the Oprah Winfrey interview and the six-part Netflix series.
“I think they’ve done about as much damage as they can.”
Prince Harry does not appear in any of the show’s new episodes, featuring only in two photographs.
