Meet the baby white rhino born in the Cotswolds… whose mother is named after an I’m A Celeb star

While her mother’s namesake might be more famous Down Under, an adorable baby white rhino is the only one turning heads at the Cotswolds Wildlife Park.

Baby Mo is the newest addition to the crash of white rhinos at the Oxfordshire park after fellow calf Markus was born earlier this year.

Both Markus and Mo are the only white rhinos to have been born in the UK in 2025.

But it’s Mo’s mother who normally brings the star power to the zoo.

Shortly after the mother rhino arrived from South Africa in 2008 she was named Ruby after writer, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant and long-time friend of the park: Ruby Wax.

However, the pint-sized Mo stole the limelight today after sweet pictures of the calf next to mother Ruby were released.

In the pictures, Mo can be seen taking her wobbly first steps while her mother gives her gentle reassurance.

In total, 13 rhinos have been born at the Cotswolds Wildlife Park since 2013.

Births in captivity are extremely rare and only six white rhinos were born in zoos across Europe this year.

The park’s curator and managing director, Jamie Craig, tolf the Oxford Mail: ‘To have such a successful record breeding this incredible species is down to our team of dedicated keepers.

‘A paddock full of rhino is a great sight and the new arrivals are certainly keeping the team on their toes.’

Mo has been named in honour of a much-loved member of staff, Mrs Maureen Clifford.

Mrs Clifford worked at the park’s main office for almost four decades from 1978 until her retirement in 2017.

And Mo, as she is affectionately called by her close friends, continues to visit the park to this day.
