FOOTBALL fans are buzzing for a bumper edition of Match of the Day tonight.

There were just three 3pm kick-offs in the Premier League on Saturday.

But they more than delivered.

The most dull of the three games was a five-goal thriller between Newcastle and Everton.

The Toffees scored within 100 seconds of Newcastle equalisers twice to secure a 3-2 win, protected by a Jordan Pickford wondersave in injury time.

At the same time, Liverpool thrashed West Ham 5-2 with seven different goalscorers.

But the absolute blockbuster came, somewhat surprisingly, at Turf Moor.

Brentford raced into a 3-0 lead but Burnley pegged them back to 3-3 with a stunning comeback.

Brentford went back in front in injury time while Burnley had TWO late goals controversially ruled out by VAR – including what they thought was another leveller in the 98th minute.

It means the three games produced a staggering 19 GOALS.

Manchester City’s trip to Leeds was the evening kick-off while the day’s Premier League action got underway at the Vitality, where Bournemouth and Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw.

But fans can barely wait to flick on BBC One at 10.30pm and catch up on the drama.

One said on social media: “MOTD going to be wild tonight.”

Another wrote: “Can’t wait for today’s MOTD. PL is doing magic for me today.”

A third added: “MOTD should be a belter tonight.”

And a final user commented: “Blimey, Match of the Day is going to be good today. Goals galore!”
