Martin Lewis’s weird workplace behaviour that left ITV show staff ‘mortified’ revealed after star is branded ‘difficult’

MONEY man Martin Lewis has been accused of weird workplace behaviour on his ITV show after being branded “difficult” by daytime staff.

The 53-year-old faced backlash after storming the set of Good Morning Britain last month in a shock outburst he later apologised for.

Now former employees working on The Martin Lewis Money Show have claimed they were left “mortified” by his behaviour off-camera.

One told The Sun: “When I was working on Martin’s TV show, he would go around asking people to do mental arithmetic on the spot.

“He seemed to want to show off how well he does it but it put younger, less experienced colleagues on the spot.

“Researchers claimed they had no work/life balance whilst they worked for him.

“Being asked to answer quick-fire maths questions out of the blue was downright bizarre behaviour. It made some people feel pretty embarrassed.”

Martin has presented The Martin Lewis Money Show since 2012, with a strong team of dozens of journalists helping to produce the content.

He has worked alongside female co-hosts over the years, including Saira Khan, Ranvir Singh and Angellica Bell – who left suddenly after six years on-screen amid rumours of a feud.

In a teary confession on Celebrity Big Brother last April, Angellica broke down in tears as she finally opened up about being “secretly sacked“ from The Martin Lewis Money Show in 2023.

Angellica told Big Brother: “Before I came in here, I was a little bit scared.

“The press were asking if I’d talk about the Martin Lewis show and stuff.

“It took me a long time to get over that.

“I’m so grateful to all the audience that messaged me about it and also to other celebrities who contacted me and stuff.

“It was those messages and support that got me through.

“That’s why I wanted to come on the show to tap into my old self.

“It has taken a long, long time.

“I think I’ve found myself again being here. Every cloud.”

Martin’s Bafta-nominated show, which has aired weekly episodes across 13 series on ITV, is designed to help viewers make their household budgets go further.

Since then he has become a regular guest presenter on daytime programmes including GMB and This Morning.

Hailed as the people’s champion, the host was awarded a CBE for services to consumer rights in 2022 followed by a National Television Award for best expert in the same year.

The emotional presenter later won a 2024 RTS Special Award for his work.

But Martin recently admitted he misjudged the public reaction to berating opposition leader Kemi Badenoch when he interrupted her interview with hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on Good Morning Britain.

A visibly frustrated Martin, 53, stood over the 46-year-old Tory leader in a fiery clash over student loans.

The clip went viral and led some ITV insiders who have worked with Martin in the past to open up about their own experiences.

An ITV spokesman said: “We don’t recognise this behaviour. Martin is a valued contributor and presenter as well as being a highly regarded and respected voice for the viewer.”
