Married CEO who welcomed the King on royal visit quits alongside female executive after ‘being caught on camera in compromising situation in front of staff’

A married CEO who welcomed the King on a royal visit has quit alongside a female executive after they were caught on camera in a compromising position in front of staff.

CEO Rupert Pleasant and his colleague were unaware they were being recorded on a computer screen as they got ‘frisky’.

The pair, who worked for Guernsey Finance, were also caught criticising other employees in footage which was shared around the company.

Mr Pleasant was among a group of finance chiefs to meet with King Charles on a royal visit to the island last year.

The CEO’s profile has been removed from the company’s website and his Linkedin page is no longer public.

The husband of the woman involved said it was a ‘very difficult time’ but that he was ‘standing by her’.

Acting CEO Barnaby Molloy said the incident fell ‘significantly short of the standards we expect’, and the individuals were ‘no longer employed by Guernsey Finance’.

‘Any conversations and actions were clearly intended to be private; the behaviour and opinions expressed do not reflect those of our organisation.’

In a statement, Guernsey Finance said: ‘The Board is taking recent events extremely seriously.

‘The matter was being investigated last week, and we can now confirm the resignation of Chief Executive, Rupert Pleasant.

‘The Board can also confirm that it is working closely with relevant stakeholders whilst ensuring the well-being of its staff and operational continuity under Acting CEO Barnaby Molloy.

‘As an independent investigation is ongoing, we are unable to provide further details.’

Guernsey Finance describes itself as ‘a joint government and industry initiative tasked with promoting and connecting Guernsey as a leading international finance centre’.

The incident is reminiscent of the viral Coldplay kisscam saga which saw astronomer CEO Andy Byron, 51, caught in a cozy embrace with Kristin Cabot, 53, his married HR boss, back in July.

He was forced to leave his position at the company in the wake of the saga.
