MARRIED At First Sight groom Ash Galati has revealed a gut-wrenching tragedy, saying “life can be so unfair”.
The star, 33, who appeared on the popular TV programme last year, announced his sister’s death after a cancer battle.
“My beautiful sister Cass, I know you hated social media,” he penned in a heartbreaking post to his 16,000 fans on Instagram.
“We all loved you; you didn’t deserve this ending. It was so unfair.
“Life can be so unfair. Without even trying, you shaped so much of my life. You were the reason I didn’t steer down a bad path.
“I remember you vividly telling me, as a 15-year-old, that if I got arrested, you’d kill me and that I couldn’t get arrested because you would get in trouble at work.”
Ash admitted his sister, Cass, was one of the reasons he decided to apply for 2024’s season of Married At First Sight.
He wrote, “The reason I applied for that show was that you said you’d watch it during chemo; if I got on, then forced me to apply, only to second guess after producers started ringing.
“You’re the reason I travelled so much and shared a lifetime of memories together.”
“You’re the reason I saw good in people,” Ash added.
“You were a risk-taker, a good cop – the ones you see in the movies.
“This shouldn’t have been your ending. Forever broken, fly high, sis.”
Ash shared a carousel of snaps alongside his sibling, including a message she had written for him before her death.
“You are the greatest brother in the whole world,” Cass wrote.
“Always there to help out whenever I need you.
“So proud of the person you are and so grateful you are my brother.”
Friends and fans flocked to the post’s comments section to send their well-wishes after the devastating announcement.
Fellow MAFS star Jack Dunkley said, “Your sister would be so proud of you Ash.
“Your generosity & your gift you bring into people’s life. She is in a better place my guy RIP Cass,” his post concluded.
Another MAFS star, Tori Adams, also commented, “Oh Ash. my deepest deepest condolences to you and your family.”
One follower penned, “Oh god ash… Im so sorry. Absolutely devastating. Sending endless love & my deepest condolences man.”
A second said, “So sorry for your loss.”
Ash married psychic medium Madeleine Maxwell during last year’s instalment of Married At First Sight Australia.
The couple didn’t manage to make things work after a rocky star, with their whirlwind marriage coming crashing down.
