Marjorie Taylor Greene unveils new AFAO slogan to replace MAGA as Trump feud escalates

Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene has unveiled a new slogan for the GOP party faithful following her public split with President Donald Trump

‘AFAO!!’ Greene wrote in a tweet on Saturday afternoon. The initials stand for ‘America First America Only’.

Trump sensationally dumped MTG on Friday night, announcing he was ‘unendorsing’ her because she was ‘a ranting lunatic.’

MTG hit back arguing that the president was using it as an excuse for not releasing the Epstein files.

It now appears that Greene is launching her own breakaway Republican movement – AFAO – after being a MAGA stalwart for years.

The Georgia Republican has clashed with Trump over many ‘America First’ issues in recent weeks and is unhappy with the president’s foreign policy focus and wants him to prioritize domestic issues.

She has called Trump’s rollout of trade tariffs ‘bumpy’ and has also disagreed with Trump’s contention that inflation is under control.

Responding to Trump’s comments, Greene told NBC News this week: ‘I’m America First, America Only. Hardcore.’

She has also said Republicans need a plan to address healthcare costs.

‘My heart is with Americans who struggle to afford life in America today,’ Greene wrote in a tweet on Saturday afternoon.

‘After tyrannical covid lockdowns and gigantic government spending bailouts, inflation has driven cost out of control, while American jobs have been replaced by visa holders and illegals. AFAO!!!’

Their bust-up appeared complete on Friday after Trump withdrew his endorsement of Greene, citing her recent criticism of his agenda.

‘I am withdrawing my support and endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the great state of Georgia,’ Trump posted on Truth Social late on Friday.

In a withering social media post he referred to Greene as ‘wacky’ and a ‘ranting lunatic’ who complained he would not take her calls.

He continued his criticism oh her on Saturday with two more social media posts, calling her a ‘Lightweight Congresswoman,’ ‘Traitor’ and a ‘disgrace’ to the Republican Party.

Trump posted that all he sees Greene doing is ‘complain, complain, complain.’

In posts on Saturday after their public spat, Greene said she had received death threats due to Trump and that he was attacking her over the release of the Epstein files

He said the conflict between them began after he shared a poll with her indicating she had little chance of winning a Senate or gubernatorial race without his endorsement, which he did not intend to give.

In response, on Saturday Greene accused Trump of putting her life in danger, saying his online criticism had triggered a wave of threats against her.

Greene said she has been contacted by private security firms warning about her safety.

‘Aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type (of) rhetoric being directed at me right now,’ Greene posted to X. ‘This time by the President of the United States.’

Greene accused Trump of lying about her and trying to intimidate other Republicans before a House of Representatives vote next week on releasing files related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender who was friendly with Trump in the 1990s and 2000s before they had a falling out.

On Saturday, Greene wrote that she now has a ‘small understanding’ of the fear and pressure felt by Epstein’s victims.

‘As a Republican, who overwhelmingly votes for President Trump’s bills and agenda, his aggression against me which also fuels the venomous nature of his radical internet trolls (many of whom are paid), this is completely shocking to everyone,’ she wrote.

On Wednesday, Greene was one of only four House Republicans who joined Democrats in signing a petition to force a vote on releasing the full Justice Department files related to Epstein.

Trump has called the furor over Epstein, who died in a jail cell in 2019, a hoax pushed by Democrats.

He suggested in his Truth Social post that conservative voters in Greene’s district might consider a primary challenger and that he would support the right candidate against her in next year’s congressional election.

Online backlash from Trump supporters is not unusual.

Right-wing influencers and conservative media personalities have become a potent online force in amplifying talking points and false claims, and attempting to discredit Trump’s rivals.

Greene has dismissed speculation that she is positioning herself for a 2028 presidential bid, saying she is focused on her district in the northwest corner of the state.

Trump's inability to wrangle some members of the Republican Party away from the Epstein files appears to have set off this latest feud

Trump’s inability to wrangle some members of the Republican Party away from the Epstein files appears to have set off this latest feud

The Republican Party appears to be tearing itself apart through party scraps just weeks after Democrats won governorships in Virginia and New Jersey by double digit margins and saw an admitted socialist elected mayor of New York City.

Jason Calacanis, a co-host of the popular All In podcast, summed it up.

‘What a self-inflicted wound by the GOP… Just release the [Epstein] files, deal with a bit of embarrassment and get back to the Trump 2.0 agenda – which the 47th administration has completely ignored for months,’ he wrote.

‘This is the challenge with 47 – focusing on what matters to the people who voted him in.’

As Trump has pushed through the MAGA agenda, several key allies have publicly clashed with the administration on several key issues and, in some cases, been cast out.

Those disagreements have taken place on policies ranging from Trump’s handling of migrant visas to Israel, but perhaps none have ripped MAGA apart more than the Epstein files.

Elon Musk dramatically charged that President Donald Trump’s name appears in the files of known pedophile Jeffrey Epstein

It was Musk who initially suggested Trump was in the Epstein files just after he’d left the White House, writing on June 5: ‘@RealDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,’ Musk wrote. ‘Have a nice day, DJT!’

Despite deleting his infamous tweet, Musk continued to bash Trump for the lack of transparency on the files as the year went on.

Anti-trans activist Riley Gaines also slammed the president for saying people who wanted more answers on Epstein were either ‘stupid’ or ‘foolish.’

As the year has gone on, Trump gathered further enemies among Republican members of Congress.

Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie led the charge on releasing the files and secured votes from close Trump allies Greene, Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace along with all Congressional Democrats.

Trump has made Massie into a punching bag, including a post to Truth Social just prior to his rant about Greene mocking Massie’s marriage earlier this month, which came a year after the passing of his wife.

Other issues have divided the right as well, including a split with many online figures about the president’s support of Israel.

Candace Owens, one of the far right’s biggest media personalities, has continuously hit Trump on his handling of the Middle East.

Earlier this week, she made the wild claim that the state of Israel was blackmailing Trump over the files, repeating the conspiracy theory that Epstein was a Mossad agent.

Tucker Carlson also slammed the government’s support of Israel, calling them ‘not allies in any way.’

The former Fox News host even claimed that he and the late Charlie Kirk had lobbied President Trump not to get involved in the conflict.
