Ter Stegen demanding payoff to facilitate exit

More from the developing Ter Stegen news…

The German international is demanding that Barcelona pay up his entire salary of €42M to leave the club, Diario SPORT reports.

His contract runs out in 2028, but Barça only want to pay him one-year’s salary to terminate his deal.

Man United fans have been here before, as the story below will testify to.

‘I will sign a new contract’ – De Jong

Given that his current contract with Barcelona is about to expire next summer, midfielder Frenkie de Jong is certain he will sign a new one with the team.

“I think I will sign a new contract, but you can never say that with a hundred per cent certainty. If everything goes well, then it will happen,” the United target told Dutch outlet Voetbalzone.

“They want it and I want it, so normally you can work it out.”

Ter Stegen under United consideration

According to TEAMtalk via ESPN, Manchester United is considering a deal for Marc-André ter Stegen, the long-term goalkeeper for Barcelona.

Following André Onana’s recent problems in goal, the team is reportedly looking into other keeper alternatives.

TeamTalk claims that Chelsea is also monitoring Ter Stegen, who just made his first-team comeback at Barça after a protracted injury absence.

Since joining the Spanish team in 2014, Ter Stegen has played in 291 La Liga games.

Palhinha intrest

Head coach Rúben Amorim wants to add a midfield player this summer, even though United’s first priority has been to acquire new offensive players.

Matheus Cunha has joined, and Bryan Mbeumo should follow shortly.

According to reports from late last week, the club had expressed interest in João Palhinha, the defensive midfielder for Bayern Munich and another player from Portugal’s Nations Legaue-winning team.

He did not, however, appear in the final.

The midfielder who Bayern acquired from Fulham for £46 million last summer is reportedly being pursued by United, but they are ready to let him go for £25 million because he was unable to adjust in Germany under Vincent Kompany.
