MANCHESTER UNITED’s dressing room believes ‘keeper Senne Lammens has been the “buy of the season.”
The first-team squad have been amazed by the quality shown by Lammens since his summer arrival.
United’s board swooped on the little-known player in an £18.2million deal last August, which took him from Belgian side Royal Antwerp to Old Trafford.
Few players in the dressing room had heard of the 24-year-old when he came in to replace error-prone Andre Onana as the club’s No 1.
But they have been impressed by the quiet manner in which he goes about his work – culminating in his standout performance this season as United won 1-0 at Everton on Monday.
The Toffees pumped ten corners into the box with players from both sides crowded around Lammens.
“But he stood firm and also pulled out world-class saves to keep out two long-range strikes from Michael Keane and Tyrique George.
After the game, Everton boss David Moyes described his display as “bloody brilliant” – while United interim boss Michael Carrick praised the Belgian for his “calmness” and “composure.”
Carrick added that “instead of creating the chaos,” his stopper helps to “take the chaos away and calm things down.”
A source said: “It’s not just fans who have been surprised by how good Lammens is – the players are too.

“They didn’t know too much about Senne when he arrived and he took a while to get to know everyone because he is reserved and quiet.
“But the players love him.
“He’s really impressed everyone with how he goes about his work – quiet, composed and without a fuss.
“He is humble and works hard every day.
“The players think United signing the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha was great – but they actually believe Senne is the best buy the club has made this season.”
Lammens boasts 22 appearances for United heading into the weekend, keeping five clean sheets.
Earlier this week it was reported that Cameroon international Onana, who is on loan at Turkish club Trabzonspor until May, wants to return to Manchester and fight for the starting jersey.
He was signed for an initial £43.8m from Italian side Inter Milan in July 2023 on a five-year deal.
But a series of erratic displays and high-profile gaffes saw him lose his No 1 spot, first to Altay Bayindir and then to Lammens.
