United were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town and struggled in the league.

But back-to-back wins over Sunderland and Liverpool either side of the international break, has seen the feel-good factor return to the club.

Amorim, 40, has now found himself under fire from cheeky fans demanding he be fired because of his views on British tea.

The coach features in a video for the Premier League alongside his rivals, speaking about their routines.

He said: “I don’t like a lot of tea. I love coffee, but sometimes I drink tea so I don’t drink coffee again.

“I saw some guys drinking tea with milk, that is something I quite don’t understand.”

Fans reacted on social media and jokingly suggested he should not be returning to the Old Trafford dugout.

One posted: “I can handle having a bad run. I can handle his sometimes questionable subs. I can handle his formation. But he’s took this too far with his milk. Fire him immediately!”

A second commented: “That’s it SACK HIM.”

A third wrote: “If you don’t understand tea then you don’t understand football.”

A fourth said: “Just when I started to like this guy.”

Another joked: “Careful now boy, those are dangerous words.”

In Portugal, the attitudes toward tea are very different from those in the UK.

The drink is more traditionally drunk alongside a snack in the late afternoon and rarely with milk.

Amorim also continued to insist that he tries to cut off his coffee intake at 5pm but may have an espresso after dinner.
