Man Utd chief Jason Wilcox BLOCKS exit of ‘bomb squad’ star as he’s about to board plane leaving player in disbelief

TYRELL MALACIA is unhappy with Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox after he blocked a proposed transfer to Turkey.

Left back Malacia was about to board a plane for Turkey on Monday morning when Wilcox contacted him to call off any move.

Wilcox’s intervention is possibly linked to a hamstring injury sustained by United’s teenage left back Harry Amass.

Amass picked up a knock on loan at Norwich a week after fellow left back Patrick Dorgu suffered a hamstring issue of his own that could rule him out until April.

Malacia, 26, is the only senior specialist left back in the United squad apart from Luke Shaw, who has started all 24 of United’s Premier League games this term.

The Dutchman has made one substitute appearance for United in the last year and was the only member of the ‘bomb squad’ who did not leave in the summer.

The Netherlands international has been on the bench in recent matchday squads but his only appearance was in the 88th minute against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Malacia is out of contract at United this summer and will be released.

He has only played 48 times for the club since joining in 2022 from PSV Eindhoven.

Just 34 of those have been starts due to serious injury issues.

Malacia was loaned back to PSV 12 months ago, where he played 12 times.

United managed to sell fellow unwanted stars Alejandro Garnacho and Antony late last summer.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were also surplus to requirements and put into the bomb squad.

They got loan deals for the season but will have to be dealt with when their deals at Barcelona and Aston Villa, respectively, end on June 30.

United also loaned Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli, where he is enjoying a decent season.

Andre Onana was replaced by Senne Lammens and ended up at Trabzonspor on loan.
