MANCHESTER CITY defender Jade Rose and Manchester United midfielder Simi Awujo were in the wars in the final stages of their Women’s Super League derby.
The Sky Blues moved four points clear at the top of the table after first half goals from Rebecca Knaak, Khadija Shaw and Lauren Hemp in the 3-0 win.

But Rose and Awujo were left sporting huge lumps on their foreheads after a gruesome clash in stoppage time.
Manchester United were pushing for a late consolation goal at the Etihad Stadium, with an inswinging corner from Julia Zigiotti causing carnage.
But Rose and Awujo were left writhing in pain when they challenged for the ball on the goal line.
Both players could be seen comparing their injuries as they walked off the pitch after undergoing treatment.
Awujo had only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes when the collision happened, having replaced Ella Toone in the closing stages.
The Canada international did not return to the pitch after being seen to by Manchester United’s medical staff, leaving her side with 10 players for the remainder of stoppage time.
But Rose was allowed back into the fray after clearing concussion protocol checks.
Manchester City’s derby delight allowed them to record an eighth consecutive WSL triumph.

The result also condemned Manchester United to back-to-back league defeats for the first time since March 2024.
City defender Knaak opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark by converting from close range.
Shaw then added her name to the scoresheet thanks to latching onto Kerstin Casparij’s inviting cross.
Hemp marked her first start since September with a powerful strike to put the game beyond Manchester United in first half stoppage time.
Although the hosts moved clear at the WSL summit, the Red Devils missed out on the chance to climb into the top two.
