
A MAN has been left with life-changing injuries after being shot in the leg in a targeted attack in Huddersfield.
The incident occurred on Luck Lane in the Paddock area at around 7.28pm on December 23.
West Yorkshire Police said armed officers were deployed to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire.
A dark-coloured vehicle was reported to have driven away from the area.
The victim was taken to hospital, where his serious leg injuries were found to be consistent with the discharge of a firearm.
In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: “At 7.28pm yesterday (Tuesday, December 23), police received a report of someone being shot in Luck Lane in the Paddock area of Huddersfield.
“It was reported that a man had suffered a leg injury and a dark-coloured vehicle had driven off.
“Armed officers were deployed to the scene and the injured man was taken to hospital, where he was found to have suffered serious leg injuries which were later found to be consistent with the discharge of a firearm.
“His injuries are believed to be life-changing.
“A large scene remains in place this morning as officers from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team carry out further enquiries into this incident, which is being treated as a targeted attack.”
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.

A major motorway has been closed after a car overturned in a serious collision, causing travel chaos for Brits heading home on Christmas Eve.
The M2 in Kent was closed westbound between Junction 5, for Sittingbourne, and Junction 4, for Rainham, following the crash near the Medway services.
In a statement, Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 12.50pm on Christmas Eve following a serious collision on the M2 London-bound near the Medway services.
“The motorway is currently closed between Junctions 5 and 4 and is likely to remain so for an extended period of time.
“Officers are in attendance.”
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The M2 in Kent is closed westbound between J5 Stockbury Interchange and J4 Brooms Wood Interchange following a serious collision which has resulted in an overturned car.
“Kent Police are in attendance along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Fire & Rescue Service and National Highways Traffic Officers.
“If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.
“Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
