Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a crash in Barnsley on Friday.
The 45-year-old pedestrian died after he was hit by a Volkswagen Touareg in the Cudworth area on Friday.
A 60-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
Emergency services received reports of the collision on Rose Tree Avenue around 4.55pm on Friday.
Police said the pedestrian’s family have been told and are receiving support from officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright said: ‘Our investigation into this tragic incident is still in its early stages and our thoughts first and foremost are with the victim’s family, friends and loved ones.
‘Detectives are working hard to piece together the circumstances of what happened and we would urge anyone with information to please get in touch with us.
‘Officers will remain in Rose Tree Avenue carrying out further enquiries. If you have any concerns, queries or information you wish to share then please speak to our officers while they are in the area.’
