
A PENSIONER tragically died and a woman was rushed to hospital with “serious injuries” after a horror smash on a busy A-road.
Cops launched an investigation after the crash involving a Land Rover and a Suzuki on the A44 in Leominster, Herefordshire, on Sunday morning.
Emergency crews were scrambled to the A4110 Bainstree Cross Junction at around 9.30am.
A 66-year-old man, the driver of the Suzuki, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, a 64-year-old woman, was rushed to a major trauma centre in Birmingham after suffering “serious injuries”.
West Mercia Police confirmed the Land Rover driver spoke with officers and no arrests had been made.
The force said: “Officers investigating a fatal collision that happened yesterday on the A44 in Herefordshire are appealing for witnesses.
“The collision happened at around 9.30am in Leominster, near to the junction for the A4110 at Bainstree Cross.
“It involved a Suzuki Grand Vitara and a Land Rover Discovery.
“The driver of the Suzuki, a man aged 66, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“A passenger in the vehicle, a 64-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“The driver of the other vehicle involved remained at the scene and was spoken to by police. No arrests have been made.
“Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam footage of the vehicles leading up to the collision, to please get in contact.”
