It’s sites will close to shoppers on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to give staff a break.

A Home Bargains spokesperson commented: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment.

“As a family-run business, we understand the importance of spending time with family and friends, particularly over the holidays.”

“We’re proud to give our teams additional time off to enjoy the festive season.”

The bargain chain has also said that it will close early on Christmas Eve to let staff spend extra times with loved ones.

Home Bargains will close at 5pm on December 24 and will not open again until the December 27.

This has been common practice for the brand over the past few years.

Today’s announcement means Home Bargains has closed on Boxing Day for the last five years.

The chain, which sells everything from sweets to home furnishings, is also one of first retailers to confirm its Christmas trading hours.

It is not uncommon for stores to switch up their opening and closing times over festive period.

Last year, B&M also shut early on Christmas Eve and closed earlier on Boxing Day.

John Lewis also closed on Boxing Day last year, and reduced its trading hours the night before Christmas.

Ikea also closed on Christmas Eve and did not reopen until the December 27.

In the run up to Christmas be sure to look at the “store locator” section of your favourites retailers website.

This should give you an updated timeline of when you local branch will be open or closed.

Countdown to Christmas

Despite the big day being three months away, many retailers are in the festive spirit.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Winter Mint Crisp is back on shelves, much to delight of shoppers.

The limited edition chocolate bar is a whopping 360g – over three times the weight of a normal one – and costs just £4.50.

Elsewhere, shoppers have been going wild for a 1ft Christmas scanning for £3 at B&Q.

Shoppers have left glowing reviews of the tiny artificial decoration, with one describing it as the “perfect table top Christmas tree”.

How to check your local Home Bargains’ store opening hours

Retailers opening hours often vary from branch to branch, so it’s worth checking before heading to your local store to avoid a wasted trip.

Home Bargains, like many other chains, has a store locator tool you can use to find what time your nearest location opens: https://storelocator.home.bargains/

All you have to do is put in the desired town or your postcode and it will bring up your local store.

Once you’ve done this, you can click “store details” which will bring up that branch’s opening hours.

It should also tell about the store’s facilities, including whether there is on-site parking, a chilled or frozen section, and a garden centre.
