AN airline has announced it will be stopping all its long-haul routes from Manchester Airport.
The routes it operates to are two major US cities and one Caribbean island which will stop from March 2026.
Irish air carrier Aer Lingus has confirmed it has ended ticket sales for its transatlantic flights from Manchester Airport beyond the end of March.
The airline began the process of halting the three routes in November and has since confirmed it will stop flying to New York, Orlando and Barbados.
The carrier on January 8, 2026 said it was “undergoing a period of uncertainty on transatlantic services” at its Manchester base.
It continued: “To minimise customer disruption in the event of a closure of the Manchester base, which operates transatlantic flights from Manchester to New York, Orlando and Barbados, Aer Lingus is no longer selling transatlantic flights to/from Manchester for travel from 31 March 2026.”
With the stopping of these routes, there are fears that Aer Lingus could close its base at Manchester altogether, according to TTG Media.
The airline has not confirmed that the base will be closed.
Aer Lingus began flying non-stop from Manchester to New York JFK, Orlando and Barbados in 2021.
The routes that remain with Aer Lingus from Manchester fly to Belfast City and Dublin.
And in a statement, the airline said that the developments will not affect Aer Lingus or Aer Lingus Regional services between Ireland and Manchester.
If you still want to head away to the US with Aer Lingus, you can still book trips on their website up until the end of March.
Currently, you can still get a round-trip from Manchester to New York JFK from as little as £408.
One-way flights to Orlando start from £297 and flights to Bridgetown in Barbados start from £396.
For those who still want to fly to New York with Aer Lingus, it will continue to fly from London Heathrow, and airports in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham and Newcastle upon Tyne.
As for Orlando, Aer Lingus will still operate flights from London Heathrow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow and Leeds Bradford.
There will no longer be direct flights from the UK to Barbados with Aer Lingus from March 2026.
