MAFS viewers slam ‘uninterested’ groom and question how he made it to altar if he ‘doesn’t know what love is’

MARRIED At First Sight UK fans have hit out at groom Paul Rico – insisting he’s ‘not interested’ in the experiment after tying the knot with Anita Barker.

Last night’s episode of MAFS UK saw Paul, 60, and Anita, 54, get married before heading on their honeymoon.

But alarm bells were soon ringing for Anita when Paul confessed he’s not even been on a date since getting divorced 15 years ago.

As they sat down for dinner, Paul told her: “I haven’t had a relationship since the divorce.”

Anita asked: “You haven’t had a relationship in 15 years?”

And Paul replied: “No. I haven’t had a girlfriend in 15 years.”

Speaking in her confessional, Anita said: “Paul was last in a relationship 16 years ago… it’s a very long time to be single and then to suddenly be wanting a wife.”

She then asked him: “What does marriage actually mean to you?”

Paul quipped: “I don’t know what the template says for marriage, I’ve not read the book.

“Tell me, what am I meant to do?”

Speaking off camera, Anita said: “I’m here to find a husband but I don’t think Paul’s ready for marriage.

“I’m feeling a bit apprehensive going forward with the relationship.”

And fans rushed to social media to have their say on Paul, with one writing: “Paul, Paul, Paul.  How you got through the selection process is a mystery.

“You’ve got kids, what do you mean you don’t know what love is?”

Another said: “Seriously tell me how they select these people to go on the show and then pair them up, Paul seems so uninterested in anything other than himself.”

And a third added: “Paul: avoids intimacy through humour, ducks and weaves any entry way to anything deeper by not answering questions and deliberately missing the point.

“He is successfully making sure nobody gets close to him. Yet he’s on a show about love and marriage.”
