MAFS UK viewers were left stunned during the latest episode when it was revealed a groom had ‘picked the lock’ on the bathroom door – while his bride was inside.
The E4 dating show has been full of drama yet again this series, with a number of marriages imploding.
One of those was Grace and Ash, who both refused to attend the commitment ceremony earlier this week, having realised their marriage was not going to work out.
During Wednesday’s show, the pair were invited to meet with the show’s experts individually to discuss where they felt things had gone wrong.
Grace soon spoke up about instances that happened away from the cameras that had crossed a boundary for her.
She told the stunned experts that Ash had picked the lock on the bathroom door while she was inside.
She said: “One of the things I didn’t really speak up about…I would go to the toilet and lock the door, and Ash would get something from the kitchen I guess and unlock it from the other side.
“And I’d be like ‘No, no, no’, like ‘stop, stop’, really panicking.”
The experts asked what she thought his intention was and Grace replied: “Playfulness, I think he wanted the kind of marriage where it’s like really familiar, but we were strangers.
“So for me, maybe that would come later but hadn’t yet, and this was even happening while I was in the shower sometimes.”
But when he was asked about the situation, Ash insisted: “That happened once. I personally don’t feel like the reaction in that moment was bad.
“Because if the reaction was really bad or shouted I’d be like ‘Ok, I’m sorry I messed up’. I’m very accountable if I do something wrong.
“In my mind I was doing it like playfulness, we’d been intimate, we’d seen each other, we’re married.
“I didn’t do it maliciously, going in there would always be playful.”
Ash also clarified that he hadn’t used a utensil, he’d just used his nail, but when the experts said he’d picked the lock while she was having a private moment, he admitted: “When you say it like that…I completely understand what you’re saying. You’re right.”
MAFS viewers were taken aback by the exchanges, with one writing on X: “Yer I’m going to walk back things I’ve said about Grace, Ash picking locks as banter is weird.
CROSSING BOUNDARIES
“That isn’t cool or to be played down especially under the guise of “we are married” That isn’t cool. That’s a clear boundary.”
Another added: “Agree! Ash picking the lock whilst Grace was using the bathroom is absolutely disgusting!”
A third tweeted: “I have been team Ashley all the way, but trying to pick the lock of a bathroom door when shes going to the toilet is mad behaviour too. Grace is impossible but thats weird too.”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “The picking the lock stuff is crazy & a huge boundary to over step with someone & I can’t even try & understand that behaviour from Ashley.”
