MARRIED At First Sight’s Leisha and Reiss have revealed the “real reason” behind their shock split.
The couple revealed on last night’s reunion show that they had both gone their separate ways – despite both visiting each other’s home after the experiment.
A heartbroken Leisha said she was devastated by the split and admitted she was still in love with her ex.
On tonight’s show, Leisha broke down in tears as she watched a VT clip of her and Reiss marriage.
Explaining why the relationship ended, Reiss said: “After the experiment, Leisha came to Essex and there was a comment made where Leisha said ‘a footballer messaged me last night, but don’t worry, I put it to bed and let him know I was with someone, so there’s nothing to worry about’.
“Then the second day, Leisha said to me ‘if it don’t work with you, it’s okay, I’ll just get with a footballer’.”
“My head was spinning and then a couple of weeks later we went on a night out and Leisha was talking to a boy and I was talking to a girl and Leisha came charging over and said ‘what are you doing flirting with her?’”
Reiss then revealed that he called things off with his wife and took a few days to think about their future.
After he returned to Essex, he ended things with Leisha – saying “it wasn’t for him anymore”.
Leisha said: “To be fair, I say things out of insecurities, I didn’t mean it.
“But Reiss never said anything to me after. He never really told me how it made him feel.
“When we left the experiment he did go quite distant.”
Leisha insisted that the break-up seemed to be over minor arguments, to which Reiss said it was a “build up” of things.
Despite the heartbreak, the pair ended on good terms.
Leisha admitted that there was still a lot of feelings there, while Reiss told her to never change.
She then broke down again in tears away from her ex.
While speaking to the camera, she sobbed: “All I wanted was the fairytale, I wanted the love story, there was many times that we had amazing times. I just loved every minute of it.
“Those feelings are still quite raw, they’re not going to go away over night.”
Yesterday, the pair revealed that they had made the decision to end their marriage, despite making it to final vows.
Leisha told the camera: “When we left the experiment, I was worried that I was into the marriage more than Reiss was.
“But we both worked hard to make it work.”
Reiss revealed: “Since leaving the experiment, Leisha came down to see me and then I went up to Scotland.
“We had some cracking times and she is a beautiful girl inside and out.
“But sadly we couldn’t make our marriage work and I haven’t seen Leisha since it ended.”
Leisha continued in her VT: “I am devastated that my marriage with Reiss hasn’t worked out.
“I still love Reiss, I think about him everyday.”
She then broke down in tears and said: “I’m just feeling really sad, I really wanted it to work.
“I put my heart and soul into it, it just wasn’t reciprocated.”
Leisha opened up about feeling embarrassed after Reiss came up to visit her in Scotland and, she claims, chatted up another girl at the bar.
Reiss entered the reunion and shared his side of events, saying she was also “flirting” with another man in the night club they were in, that same night.
Reiss also told John that Leisha had claimed she had been messaged by a footballer, and made a comment saying if things didn’t work out between them she’d ‘just be with the footballer.’
The groom said in the first week after ending things he wasn’t sure if he’d made the right decision, but stands firm on it being the right thing to do now.
During final vows, the pair decided that despite a difficult time together, what they had was worth fighting for in the real world.
Pouring his heart out in his vows, a suited Reiss said: “Your thoughtful, caring and beautiful nature is something I’ve always wanted in a partner.”
He declared: “I want to continue this blossoming marriage.
“One thing I can promise you Leisha is our adventure is far from over. No need to be nervous anymore, we’ve got the rest of our life.”
She said: “You’re everything I’ve never wanted. I’m definitely in love with you.”
Her mind then immediately drifted to having babies, though Reiss suggested maybe they get a puppy first.
