MAFS fans slam ‘red flag’ bride as she reveals ‘high maintenance demands’ after being cheated on

MARRIED At First Sight fans have branded one bride a “red flag” after she laid out a list of “high maintenance demands”.

Viewers had a lot to say about bride Nelly Patel, who has been single for over a year and is ready to search for true love.

The tenth series of Married At First Sight UK has already delivered drama.

Last night, viewers saw Nelly take the bold step of embarking on the reality TV show and make a showstopping entrance.

The 30-year-old was carried in and wore a vibrant red two-piece bridal outfit, showing her connection to her Indian heritage.

Her groom, Steven, was blown away as he said: “What an entrance.”

However, the cosmetic dentist from Manchester said something in her intro before her wedding day that sparked controversy online.

Nelly told the producers that she wants someone “obsessed” with her and doesn’t take “three hours to reply to a text.”

Her audition tape revealed that a guy she went on a date with called her “hard work” even though she had been cheated on.

She replied to him: “Define f***ing hard work? It’s called standards hun. I don’t know who you’ve been dating, but it ain’t people like me then. Go get me some champagne. And he did.”

Fans were left alarmed and thought she was displaying “red flag” behaviour and would be a “high maintenance” partner.

Taking to X, one viewer said: “Oh No Nelly…….. immediately red flagging me #MAFSUK.”

Another added: “Whoa! Whoaoooa there Nelly #MarriedAtFirstSightUK #MAFSUK.”

A third penned: “Think Nelly would be a bit too high maintenance as a partner to be honest #MAFS #MAFSUK.”

However, when Nelly and Steven met, the pair were smitten with each other.

And despite Steven’s hesitance about bringing up his kids, Nelly reacted very calmly and said she was “chill” about it.

The couple kissed several times as they danced throughout the night and expressed their excitement about their future journey together.

Elsewhere, another bride threatened to quit after seeing her groom at the altar.

Bubbly midwife Grace soon turned sour when she met her husband, dad of two Ashley.

Unfortunately, the sparks for her were far from flying.

As Grace walked down the aisle towards Ashley, who was facing away from her, she appeared to be giddy and hopeful.

Yet that demeanour seemed to instantly shift the moment the pair began talking.

There was some initial banter, with Ashley asking Grace how she was and Grace cracking some nervous jokes.

Then just before the vows, something with Grace seemed off.

She was pressing her lips together, suppressing tears – but not ones of joy.

After quickly shoving the ring on Ashley’s finger, Grace looked away to the side at the ground.

She also clearly didn’t want to have her first kiss with her husband.

When the MAFS UK officiant asked them to kiss she awkwardly stood in silence before saying, “I can offer you a cheek.”

The true extend of Grace’s upset came out when she had a moment alone talking to the camera behind the scenes.

Grace broke down in tears and said: “I’m not really sure why I can’t put my finger on it.

“Honestly I just don’t know how I feel, I don’t want to do this, sorry.”

She then stormed off and one of the show’s producers followed her, as they tried to talk her down.

They said: “What’s upsetting you … it’s absolutely fine if the initial spark isn’t there.”

Grace replied: “I don’t know what to say it’s a lot. I don’t want to do it I’m sorry I can’t.”

Ashley on the other hand seemed super excited meeting Grace, saying he was “chuffed” couldn’t stop “grinning like a Cheshire cat”, and that he “liked that she didn’t want to kiss straight away”.

Clearly he didn’t get the memo on why she held back, instead praising her morals for not going in for intimacy too quickly.

Fans of the show took to X to share their thoughts on the interaction, as well as Grace blatantly disliking Ashley.

“Grace is the most insufferable person I’ve ever witnessed! Her poor husband,” said one user, feeling sorry for family man Ashley.

Others thought she was just being plain rude holding such strong negative feelings off the bat.

“Grace is just being so rude” one said as another penned: “Why is Grace acting like she isn’t even ready for a boyfriend let alone a husband?”.

One user said they would gladly have Ashley if Grace was jumping ship.

“I’ll take Ashley off graces hand no problem.”
