
A MAJOR UK motorway has ground to a halt following a multi-vehicle collision involving at least seven motors.
The M65 in Lancashire is currently closed westbound within Junction 3 – Brimmicroft Interchange – near Blackburn.
Emergency services have been scrambled to the site of the crash and are working to bring the chaotic scene under control.
Police, paramedics and fire crews have all responded to the ongoing incident.
Drivers are currently facing hour long delays and have been advised to plan their route accordingly.
A six mile long queue of traffic has built along the busy motorway in the wake of the pile up.
Police said they were alerted to the incident at around 4pm; it remains unclear if any serious injuries were reported.
National Highways said: “The M65 in Lancashire is CLOSED westbound within J3 (Brimmicroft Interchange near Blackburn) due to a collision involving at least 7 vehicles.
“All emergency services are on scene.
“Traffic is being diverted via the exit & entry slip roads. 60 min delay & 6 miles of congestion.”
