A MAJOR motorway has closed after a serious crash causing traffic chaos for Monday morning commuters.
There is two miles of congestion on the eastbound carriageway of the M62 in West Yorkshire, with police warning motorists to stay away.
The crash was reported at just before 2.40am between junction 32 (Pontefract/Castleford) and junction 32A (A1M).
National Highways: Yorkshire said: “Emergency services including West Yorkshire Police are in attendance.
“National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
“Traffic on approach is being diverted. Please allow extra journey time if travelling in the area.”
West Yorkshire Police urged the public to “avoid the area where possible”.
