M60 and M42 closed in both directions over ‘snowfall’ and ‘police-led incident’ as drivers warned of long delays

TWO major motorways have ground to a halt after a “police led incident” and “snowfall”.

The M60 anti-clockwise at Stockport closed due to snow overnight and southbound traffic on the M42 stopped following an incident this morning.

The M42 in Warwickshire closed northbound between junction nine for the M6 toll and junction 10 for Tamworth after a “police-led incident”.

Traffic on the southbound carriageway has also stopped.

National Highways said in a statement: “The M42 in Warwickshire is closed northbound between J9 M6 Toll and J10 Tamworth due to a Police led incident.

“Traffic is also stopped on the M42 southbound between J10 and J9.

“More information to follow, thank you for your patience.“
