A MAJOR motorway is shut after a lorry spilled meat across a carriageway, with rush hour drivers stuck in 60-minute queues.
A broken down lorry shed a load of meat across the M6, leading to delays of up to an hour.
Pictures show the organs spread across the carriageway.
National Highways says delays are expected to last until 10am.
Three lanes of the M6 northbound are shut between Junctions 14 and 15.
Queues are stretching back to Junction 14.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “Allow extra journey time as likely to cause long delays this morning.”
“Lanes 1,2 and 3 of (4) are closed on the M6 north J14 (Stafford) – J15 (StokeOnTrent) as a HGV has spilt its load of offal across the carriageway.
“Traffic Officers are on scene with specialist contractors en-route to begin the clean-up work at the scene.”
Last night, another stretch of the motorway was shut after a serious crash.
Junction 16 (Crewe/Stoke-on-Trent) and Junction 17 (Sandbach/Congleton) was shut.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “The M6 in Cheshire is closed northbound between J16 (Crewe) and J17 (Sandbach) due to a serious collision which occurred shortly before 19:45 this evening.
“Cheshire emergency services are in attendance, along with National Highways Traffic Officers who are in attendance assisting with traffic management.
“Collision investigation will be taking place overnight tonight and the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
“There is also a planned roadworks closure in place between J15 and J16 so the full extent of the closure is J15 (Stoke on Trent) to J17 (Sandbach).”
