
A MAJOR motorway has ground to a halt after a horror crash which has left the road closed for several hours.
The M6 in Warwickshire is at a standstill after a serious collision this evening between junction one for Rugby and junction two for Coventry.
National Highways said the expect the road to remain closed for hours after the crash after police raced to the scene.
A spokesperson said: “Emergency services including Warwickshire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
“Due to the nature of the incident, the road is expected to remain closed for several hours”.
It added that drivers should take the following diversion
- At M6 J1 take the exit to the A462 northbound.
- Continue along the A426 to its junction with the A5.
- Take the exit to A5 westbound and continue to its junction with the M69 J1.
- Take the exit to M69 southbound and continue to M6 J2.
The statement continued: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
