M4 closed in both directions after horror crash with drivers stuck in nightmare queues

DRIVERS have been warned of nightmare delays after a horror crash on the M4.

The major motorway has been shut down in both directions near Bridgend.

Lane three is closed in both directions between Junction 36 for Sarn and Junction 35 for Pencoed.

A broken down vehicle on the M4 Prince of Wales bridge eastbound has also sparked delays.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix is warning of building traffic from Junction 36 A4061 to Junction 35 A473.

There are also mounting queues on the Prince of Wales bridge from Junction 23 M48 to Junction 22 M49.

This is due to an earlier broken down car and heavy rain this morning.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “We’re at the scene of a collision on the M4, Bridgend.

“Lane 3 is closed in both directions between Junction 36 for Sarn and Junction 35 for Pencoed.

“Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We’re grateful for your patience.”
