A MAJOR UK motorway has been forced to close after a horror smash in the early hours – sparking huge delays.
Motorists have been urged to avoid the M1 near St Albans, Hertfordshire, following the crash this morning.
National Highways said: “The M1 in Hertfordshire is closed southbound between J6 (St Albans) and J5 (Watford) due to a collision.
“Emergency services are currently on scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are dealing with traffic management.”
