A MAJOR UK motorway has closed after a car smashed into a barrier and landed on its side – sparking travel chaos.
Motorists travelling on the M1 near Aston, South Yorkshire, have been warned to expect severe delays following the crash this morning.
National Highways said: “The M1 in South Yorkshire is closed northbound between J30 (Barlborough) and J31 (Aston), due to a collision.
“At approximately 05:30 this morning, National Highways were made aware of an incident whereby a vehicle collided with the nearside barrier.
“South Yorkshire Police, Fire, Ambulance Services and National Highways Traffic Officers are currently in attendance.”
