Luke Littler, 18, says ‘I want to go back to my normal self’ after banking £2.6million through incredible darts career

LUKE LITTLER would love to go back to his “normal self” but reckons he has now finally adjusted to the microscope of worldwide fame.

Two years ago this month, The Nuke came to Butlin’s Minehead for the World Youth Final, which he won, as someone who could walk down the street without being noticed or hassled.

That all changed when he made the final of the PDC World Darts Championship at Ally Pally on his debut appearance, aged just 16.

Over the next two seasons, Littler became a household name by lifting the Sid Waddell Trophy at his second attempt and becoming world No 1 ahead of Luke Humphries.

Millions of people know who he is and what he looks like and he is constantly asked for selfies or autographs.

As he counts his millions, the 18-year-old has accepted the crazy life he now leads and how he will never again be just an ordinary teenager.

Asked if he ever wished for five minutes to himself – just to be ‘Luke Littler’ again, not Luke The Nuke – the Warrington lad said: “It’s obviously been non-stop since I first came on to the tour.

“And it’s not stopping anytime soon with the schedule and stuff like that. So we’re always going to be playing week-in, week-out. I’m loving it at the minute.

“I’ll say it a few times, I want to go back to my normal self, but I’ve been used to the fame and all that stuff for so long now, I think it’d be weird if I just isolated myself for a week or something.

“But yeah, it’s all a learning curve and I’ve been getting used to it.

“Life has changed, it’s definitely changed since that first Worlds, but performance-wise I’m not stopping anytime soon.

“Well, I didn’t plan on doing all these amazing things, but it’s all come as one. It’s all thanks to myself, my sponsors, my family. Long may it continue.”
