Lovely Beatrice and Eugenie should not suffer for sins of their parents

I’M so glad King Charles has decided to let Andrew’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie remain Princesses.

The sisters, who are young mothers themselves now, must be suffering badly over their father’s final humiliation.

It is basic common justice these lovely young women should not suffer for the sins of the parents.

So, I hope soon the King can find roles for Beatrice and Eugenie to play in the work of the Royal Family — which, with illness and the loss of ageing members, is stretched to cover engagements both at home and abroad.

They are already supporters of many charities but you rarely hear about it.

Meanwhile, Eugenie, who had a major operation to correct scoliosis of her spine when she was a young girl, supports the National Orthopaedic Hospital.

And both are backers of the Teenage Cancer Trust, which helps young people with the disease.

There are many more charities and organisations they support and they quietly get on with that work.

I was there with the press pack outside the hospital when both were born, and who could forget Beatrice’s birthday — 8/8/88?

I watched them grow up and on their annual skiing trips I would ask to do pictures. Their mother, Sarah Ferguson, would always say: “Let me discuss it with the girls.”

Her greatest hope and wish is that her girls — the granddaughters of the late Queen — would be able to contribute to the Royal Family and the country.

Perhaps their uncle, the King, who knows and likes them a great deal, can make that happen sometime soon.
