A FORMER Love Island star has ditched the UK and moved to the cheapest country in the world.
Diamanté Laiva, who joined the ITV dating show as a Casa Amor bombshell in series 11 but was brutally dumped just two days later, has confirmed she has left the “miserable” UK for Vietnam.
Last year, Vietnam was named the world’s most affordable place to live for the fourth year in a row, according to the Expat Insider 2024 survey by InterNations.
As reported by Forbes, Vietnam has consistently delivered on affordability, with 86% of expats rating the cost of living favourably – more than twice the global average of 40%.
Not only this, but half of the expats surveyed also said the cost of living in Vietnam is “very good,” significantly surpassing the global average of 12%.
Diamanté, the 22-year-old stunner who appeared on the show in June 2024 and soon became known for her fiery personality and entrepreneurial spirit, took to social media to share her “life update” since moving to the cheapest country in the world.

The influencer claimed that now she is living in Da Nang – the commercial and educational center of Central Vietnam.
There, Diamanté is paying just £180 a month in rent – yes, you heard that correctly.
Diamanté, who felt “very chilled” about leaving Casa Amor, slammed those in the UK and described the country as “negative.”
Posting online, the businessowner, who went back to her old job just days after being axed from the villa, filmed herself in her new home and said: “Leaving the UK forever has made me realise that you guys are actually the problem – why is the country so negative?
“For context, three months ago I moved to Vietnam and I know it’s such an awkward, random country.
“I’ve not experienced a single ounce of uncomfortability, weirdness, nothing – the UK is the problem.
“The key is not going to places that everybody goes to – so my house costs me £180 a month.”
Not only does Diamanté pay cheap rent, but she’s also just a stone’s throw away from the beach too.
How easy is it to move abroad?
Brexit means British citizens now have to apply for visas to move to countries within the EU. While some countries residency restrictions are easier than others, here’s what you need to do at home before moving:
- Notify HMRC about your upcoming move.
- Let your local authority know and provide a forwarding address.
- Contact your mortgage and utility providers and bank before leaving.
- If you have paid enough UK national insurance contributions, you can qualify for a state pension abroad – contact the International Pension Centre.
- You can sign up to the Royal Mail’s redirection service.
- If you have outstanding student loans, contact the Student Loans Centre.
- If you have children, give due notice to childcares and schools.
She added: “The beach is outside, not being funny, some of the buildings here are kind of competing with big Dubai.”
Despite being able to only speak “basic” Vietnamese, Diamanté, who has two online businesses and is currently working remotely, continued: “I love it, I really do love it.”
Social media users react
Diamanté’s clip, which was uploaded just 19 hours ago, has quickly racked up 72,400 views and 4,884 likes.
Social media users were stunned to see that Diamanté had emigrated and many were “jealous” of her cheap rent.

One person said: “I’m so jealous, I love Vietnam.”

A third commented: “Good for you!!! I left the UK too!!!!”

At the same time, one user beamed: “I left nine years ago at 24 and never looked back. I miss my family so much but every time I go home to visit I realise why I left.”
To this, Diamanté responded and wrote: “Literally, family can always visit…they get a holiday out of it too.”
