LOVE Island’s All Stars series remains on hold as wildfires rage on in Cape Town — with the delay costing ITV some £15,000 an hour.
Emergency services are still battling a blaze in Wemmershoek, just a mile outside the villa.
The new legends edition of the hit dating show was due to air tonight, but with two days of filming now cancelled, the launch date is now up in the air.
A source said: “Bosses have no choice but to wait for the area to be deemed completely safe.
“The desire is to be back as soon as possible but risk and health and safety assessments are still ongoing.”
Casta and crew sitting in nearby hotels and flats will still be paid their daily rates, regardless of the desperate situation.
Returning Islanders like Belle Hassan and Charlie Frederick command some £2,000 a week, while camera operators, runners, caterers, and more all need cash.
It means excluding Maya Jama’s rumoured £800,000 pay for hosting the run, manpower alone costs £150,000 a day even before redundant location costs.
Maya, 31, is said to be keeping safe indoors at her private villa.
Filming was first called off on Saturday morning as firefighters along the Western Cape were called out to battle ferocious blazes sweeping down from the mountains.
Maya and the cast were quickly whisked away from winter villa Ludus Magnus, which costs £9,000 a night to hire.
The raging inferno has already burned down one vineyard nearby in the Franschhoek area while eight more remain in flames.
Strong winds overnight have further fanned the fires.
There has been no loss of life or serious injury, the local authorities say.
A spokesperson for ITV said: “Owing to an ongoing wildfire in the area, we have evacuated the Love Island production site as a precautionary measure.”
