Love Island: All Stars contestant Charlie Frederick has been accused of ‘violent’, ‘manipulative’ and ‘controlling’ behaviour following his dramatic exit from the ITV show.
His ex-girlfriend Natalie Clowes, 31, a PA from Hertfordshire, has told friends that their four years together between 2021 and 2025 was ‘the worst time of her life.’
Sources say Charlie, who first appeared on Love Island in 2018 before returning for this year’s All Stars edition, was so jealous during the relationship that he confronted a stranger in a jealous rage at Raffles nightclub in 2021.
On another occasion, during what was described as a furious outburst, a source close to Natalie, 31, alleges that Charlie hurled a KFC meal – including a bucket of chicken – at her head, leaving her covered in fried food.
The friend further claimed that Charlie, who has also appeared on E4’s Made In Chelsea, would mock Natalie by using a ‘baby voice’, sneering: ‘Shall I get out the violin?’ as she sobbed following what was described as his ‘scary’ and ‘aggressive’ outbursts.
Charlie became the first Islander to be sent home by their partner on the show, after former Love Island winner Millie Court was handed the deciding vote when the public ranked him among the three least popular contestants on Thursday night.

A source close to Natalie revealed: ‘In the beginning it was quite intense from the word go.
‘He loved-bombed her and wanted to spend all his time with her, which felt fresh and exciting. At first, Natalie really liked it. But red flags started to appear early on, especially when he drank alcohol.
‘They seemed like the perfect couple, deeply in love and best friends. But when Charlie drank, his personality would completely change. He was very Jekyll and Hyde.
‘At the time they were living in a flat in Fulham and going out together every weekend. It was during those nights out that his behaviour became far more aggressive.
‘There was an incident at Raffles where he confronted a stranger who brushed past Natalie – it was completely over the top.’
The friend added: ‘He was very good at manipulating situations. He would say it was because he loved Natalie so much, that he was just being protective, and he would spin it like that.
‘But it got worse and worse as the relationship went on. By the end, he would say, “You’re just going to have to accept that – drunk me isn’t my problem.”‘
Charlie returned to Love Island, fronted by Maya Jama, in the original All Stars lineup and has been watched by millions in the South African villa this week.

A source close to Natalie said Charlie’s behaviour worsened even when he wasn’t drinking.
Another painful memory involved Charlie allegedly hurling a bucket of KFC at Natalie’s head, an incident that was witnessed by her parents and marked the beginning of the end of their relationship.
The source added: ‘On another occasion, they were in the car on the way to Natalie’s parents’ house, and they stopped to get KFC for everyone.
‘As they drove, Charlie was screaming and shouting at Natalie for no clear reason. When they got out of the car, he threw the KFC at her head. It hit her, and all the food spilled over her and onto the floor.
‘Her parents heard everything, and that’s when they couldn’t understand why she was still with him.
‘He went from zero to 100 so quickly – one second he would be a nice guy, then he would completely flip, and Natalie would have to pick up the pieces, quite literally.’
Charlie was voted by the public as one of the least popular Islanders and was sent home by Millie, who he was coupled up with and had been getting to know romantically
He had offended the female Islanders by kissing Jess Harding behind Millie’s back, then still choosing Millie during the recoupling
Former winner Millie said she doesn’t regret her decision and felt Charlie displayed ‘red flags’ during his time on the series
The insider said that while Charlie would initially apologise and show remorse for his behaviour, he would then mock and belittle Natalie.
The toxicity of the relationship left Natalie a ‘shell of herself,’ the source added, and she later sought therapy to recover.
‘He was very good at gaslighting Natalie,’ the source claimed. ‘He would scream and shout at her and point in her face. Natalie would say, “Charlie, you’re scaring me,” and he would reply, “Shall I get out the violin? Are you going to cry?” He would use this baby voice.
‘She had to walk away because of his anger issues,’ the source continued. ‘It got to the point where she couldn’t cope anymore and she became a ghost of herself.’
‘They couldn’t have a social life because Natalie would be anxious about what might happen. His reactions would keep escalating.’
‘Natalie was a confident person,’ the source said. ‘It wasn’t until she finally walked away that she realised how bad it really was. Since then, she has taken a year to be by herself and heal, which she needed after being with Charlie.’
A source close to Natalie said they were disappointed to see Charlie cast on Love Island: All Stars, believing the show would give him yet another opportunity to raise his public profile and boost his social media following.
Their only consolation, the source added, was that the Islanders and viewers quickly saw Charlie’s true colours, ranking him the least favourite male contestant at the first chance they had.

The toxicity of the relationship with Charlie left Natalie a ‘shell of herself,’ a source told the Daily Mail, and she later sought therapy to recover
Millie, who was coupled up with Charlie, sent him home during Thursday’s instalment after she said she noticed ‘red flags’ during their time together.
Charlie had been getting to know Millie before he kissed Jess Harding behind her back, and he chose Millie during the most recent recoupling despite his growing chemistry with Jess.
The friend continued: ‘Natalie wasn’t surprised to see Charlie on Love Island: All Stars, he likes being on TV and in the limelight.
‘She would have been upset if he had been portrayed positively, because she knows what he is like behind closed doors. But she’s glad people have now seen the real him. The girls came together and saw all his red flags.
‘Viewers have been saying how scary his eyes looked on the show – and she used to feel the same way.’
The source added: ‘ITV need to look more closely at male Islanders before casting them. Charlie should never have been given this platform.
‘He has gone on the show and disrespected women even more. He hasn’t changed at all in the past year. Natalie thought he might have sought help, but it doesn’t seem like it from watching the show. He needs therapy.
‘She thought he might try to appear like a nice guy, but he’s clearly incapable of that.’
The Daily Mail has approached ITV and Charlie’s spokesperson for comment.
