LORRAINE Kelly has made an emotional return to her ITV daytime show following her dad’s tragic death.
The Scottish broadcaster told how she was “OK” and taking “small steps” as she continues to navigate her grief.
The Sun exclusively reported how the broadcaster’s dad John Kelly, 84, died after an “ice fall tragedy” in a Scots town.
He was found injured in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, amid sub-zero temperatures, and sadly died at the scene.
Understandably, she took some time away from her new-look ITV show Lorraine, with Christine Lampard, 46, standing in during last week’s episodes.
Yet with the start of a new week, she bravely made her small screen return on Monday.
Good Morning Britain, presenter Susanna Reid, 55, sent her “lots of love” on her comeback during the preview for Lorraine’s 30-minute episode.
And as it kicked off, she was joined by Dr Amir who also shared his condolences.
Talking of the flood of messages from well-wishers, she told him: “You see the real kindness in people, that’s been lovely”.
She then admitted she was “doing OK” and taking “small steps” as she resumed her routine.
DEVASTATING LOSS
Lorraine’s devastating family loss was revealed earlier this month.
It’s understood cops are probing a “slip on ice” as part of their inquiries into John’s passing.
Staff from a nearby Tesco store are understood to have found the great-grandad injured at around 7am and called emergency services.
Heartbroken star Lorraine announced the news in a post on Instagram.
She wrote: “My dad has died. I am mourning the man who bought me a telescope when I was five years old, who watched the moon landings with me and taught me to always be curious and interested in everything.
“He was in poor health but it has still been a shock.

“Any of you who have experienced a similar loss will know how my brother Graham and I are feeling.
“Our priority is taking care of my mum and the family would very much appreciate privacy at this distressing time.”
At the time, a source told The Scottish Sun on Sunday: “The news came as a complete shock and she’s understandably heartbroken.
“It’s never easy losing a parent, and Lorraine will be spending the next few days with her close family.”
