LIVERPOOL reportedly have a new stance on signing Marc Guehi.
The Reds came within a whisker of landing Crystal Palace‘s skipper in the summer transfer window.
The England international’s move to Anfield collapsed on deadline day, despite both clubs agreeing a fee and the defender undergoing a medical.
SunSport exclusively revealed the move fell through as Palace – who tried to land Kop star Joe Gomez as part of the transfer – couldn’t find a suitable replacement for their captain.
The Reds are still keen on signing the 25-year-old former Chelsea defender.
But according to The Times, they WON’T pursue his services in the January transfer window.
They claim the Kop club will only move for Guehi in the summer when he becomes a free agent.
A move for Guehi next summer will see the Merseysiders save a pretty penny when it comes to a transfer fee.
But they’ll face stiff competition for Guehi’s services if they wait to sign him.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to both be keen on signing the centre-back.

Inside Guehi’s collapsed Liverpool transfer after Glasner power struggle
OLIVER GLASNER has won his battle with Steve Parish over captain Marc Guehi.
The most successful manager in Crystal Palace history slammed his foot down and demanded that he did not lose his skipper this late in the window.
Glasner made it abundantly clear in public that he wanted Guehi to stay following the win over Aston Villa.
Within the club some feared he could even walk if the defender was sold.
Off the back of the FA Cup win in May and the victory over Liverpool in the Community Shield, this is the prime time for Glasner to throw his weight around.
Not that Palace did not try to land a fee for Guehi, who could now leave for nothing in a year’s time.
And the prospect of playing for the European giants could prove to be more appealing to Guehi than remaining in the Premier League with Liverpool.
Neither Guehi nor Palace have commented on the failed transfer.
Guehi is expected to skipper the Eagles on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Sunderland to Selhurst Park.
