INTER MIAMI have paid tribute to Lionel Messi in the club’s latest stunt.
Their new stadium, set to open on April 4 will have a stand honouring the football legend.
Inter Miami’s “Nu Stadium” is set to open next week for their clash against Austin FC.
The club released a video on X for the stand reveal – focusing on Messi’s worldwide impact.
The video was centred around how his famous name is everywhere.
This was one of many justifications for naming the stand after the world champion.
In a statement the club said: “Inter Miami CF is excited to announce Leo Messi stand, with our number 10 and captain set to become part of a rare and unique case in global sports: an athlete regularly playing at his home stadium with a stand named in his honor.”
They went on to say: “Traditionally, tributes look to the past. They are built from nostalgia. From memory. This one is different. This one is born from the present.
“From what is happening right now. From what you feel every time Leo steps onto the pitch.”
It is not the first time Messi has had a stand named after him – his boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys also paid tribute to one of football’s all-time greats.
