BARGAIN hunters are rushing to Lidl after spotting massive 7ft real Christmas trees selling for a festive fraction of the usual price.
The budget supermarket has officially kicked off the battle of the baubles, unleashing a range of fresh Nordmann Firs that are leaving shoppers stunned – and wallets happy.

While savvy spenders might expect to shell out upwards of £50 or even £60 for a towering tree at a garden centre, Lidl has slashed the price of its showstopper firs to just £19.99.
These are the “Large” fresh cut non-drop Nordmann Firs, standing tall at an impressive 190-210cm – that’s a whopping 6ft to 7ft in old money.
Nordmann Firs are the UK’s most popular variety because it is “non-drop” – meaning you won’t be hoovering up needles every five minutes.
Word of the deal spread like wildfire after excited customers took to social media to show off their festive hauls.
Posting on the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page, one thrilled shopper alerted others to the find, writing: “Real large Christmas tree from lidl £19.99. 6ft-7ft.”
The post quickly racked up likes and comments as fans of the German discounter shared their own success stories.
One happy customer gushed: “Love the Lidl trees.”
Another, who had opted for a slightly more petite pine but was blown away by the quality of the larger ones, said: “That’s beautiful.
“I got the smaller version.”
“So happy with it but yours is, just wow!”
A fourth shopper claimed they would never go back to pricey garden centres again, adding: “Love lidl trees they are the best ones ever!
“We got one from a farm once and it died during xmas!”
Lidl says its trees are British-grown, sourced from sustainable plantations in Berkshire and the Scottish Highlands.
And every tree comes with a label that lets you track exactly where it was grown via the Lidl website.
As with all of Lidl’s famous “Middle of Lidl” style deals, these trees are available on a “while stocks last” basis.
Given the rave reviews and the fact that December is knocking on the door, you’ll need to be quick.
Once they are gone, you could be left paying double at a garden centre – or worse, dusting off that plastic one from the loft.

The Christmas tree war
Lidl isn’t the only one fighting for your festive pound this year.
The supermarket shelves are currently a battleground for fresh firs, with rivals Aldi and Home Bargains also throwing their hats in the ring.
Aldi is matching the price point, offering their own British-grown Large Nordmann Fir (190-210cm) for the same £19.99 price tag.
Meanwhile, Home Bargains has been spotted selling slightly smaller 160-180cm (5-6ft) trees for a rock-bottom £12.99 – perfect if your ceiling height is a bit lower.
IKEA, usually a go-to for tree deals, previously axed its famous “£20 voucher” tree offer, leaving the door wide open for the budget supermarkets to swoop in and save Christmas.
How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some that we recommend:
- Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
- Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
- Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
- CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
