Speaking on the Spinning Plates podcast with Sophie Ellis Bextor, Laura opened up about a comment she receives from viewers.

She shared her co-parenting schedule with ex Alex and explained how they split their time with the children equally.

‘They’re with their dad one week and with me one week,’ Laura said.

She added: ‘It’s great, we had the children together, we parent them together, they get the best of both of us. We managed to make that set up work.

‘They love it. If I ever turn around to my children and said ‘Oh you’re going to be with me all the time,’ which I never would, they would be annoyed, they’d be like, ‘No, it’s dad’s week this week’.’

The TV presenter responded to a remark people make on her social media and said: ‘If I ever post things on my socials about being away anywhere, I get comments, ‘Where are the kids? Where are the kids?’

‘No one knows my situation and actually, we spend an equal amount of time with them and do lots of stuff with them, independently.’

However, she feels she has ‘got over that guilt’ and added: ‘Yes, when they’re with their dad, do I miss them? Of course I do, but I use that time really to do the work that I would be doing when I was going away.’

She spoke candidly about how she feels as a working mum and having others judge.

‘There’s always going to be people who judge what you do, but you were you before you had them, you had a career and you’re still entitled to have a career now.

‘And I think your children will respect you because they can see you’re a working mum and what an inspiration.’

Laura previously spoke to MailOnline and recalled a surprise date from over 20 years ago.

Recounting meeting up with Shaggy, she explained: ‘I met him for coffee and I had to pay for it. It was at Heathrow airport.

‘I’d been working with him, and he said, ‘I really want to meet up with you and talk about work opportunities.”

Confirming that he made up a song and sang it to her, she continued: ‘God, that was over 20 years ago. I’m not sure he’d recognise me now.’

Adding of her dating life now, Laura said: ‘I’m busy working and dating and having fun, and I prefer to find people naturally rather than being on dating apps.

‘I like to go out and meet people who have common interests. I made a decision going forward that I want to keep that aspect of my life private.

‘I think it’s really important that if I’m dating people – and I have been dating people – if they’re not in the public eye, then they have a right to privacy.

‘Just because I’m in the public eye – you never know what their job is, and they might need privacy for security reasons, and so I’m always mindful of that.’
